Patron:
Drs. Theo Bovens
During its 50th anniversary in 2003, Show & Marchingband MVB appointed Drs. Theo Bovens as its patron.
Theo had long been closely involved with the band and also served as chairman of the uniform fund. Accepting the role of patron was not a given for him, but a carefully considered decision. The appointment of a patron was the first in half a century, underscoring the special and unique nature of this position within our organization. The band considers it a great honor and privilege that Theo has taken the band under his wing.
Career
Theo served for many years as an alderman and deputy mayor of the city of Maastricht. He later became King’s Commissioner in the province of Limburg, acting mayor of the city of Enschede, and is currently parliamentary group leader for the CDA in the Dutch Senate. Theo is married to Lizzy, and together they have a daughter. Scouting and music run like a common thread through their lives. His father, They, was chairman of the band in the 1960s, and Theo himself was briefly part of the instructional team in the 1970s. Theo is also the founder and a musician of *Zaate Herremenie Tête de Veau*, and for many years he served as chairman of the impressive choir *Capella Sancti Servati*. Theo’s résumé extends far beyond this brief overview. His deep love for the city of Mestreech needs no further explanation—and that affection is very much mutual.
